Cold Stone Creamery Jelly Belly Ice Cream Parlor Mix

I know these are not an Easter-specific Jelly Bean, but I purchased them some time ago and have been saving them to add to my Jelly Bean review extravaganza. I love jelly beans and Jelly Belly in particular is a favorite of mine. I love their crazy mixes, flavoring all the way through, and fantastic taste. I had high hopes for this Jelly Belly Cold Stone Ice Cream Parlor Mix and was seriously disappointed.

I'm sure you are asking yourself what I'm talking about because Jelly Belly makes awesome jelly beans, right? Normally they do. I can't even think of a mix I didn't like, except some of the Bertie Botts flavors. Here is a breakdown of the flavors and my opinion on them: Cold Stone Creamery Jelly Belly

Chocolate Devotion: This flavor tasted like burnt hot cocoa, very distinct cocoa flavor, also had a slight fudge and brownie flavor, but I couldn't get past what I thought tasted like burnt cocoa

Strawberry Blondie: I've had this ice cream at Cold Stone and this flavor was closer than the others to what the actual ice cream tastes like. It was not a bad flavor overall, but it wasn't great, which is what I expect from Jelly Belly

Birthday Cake Remix: This definitely tastes like cake batter, which is my 5 yr. old's favorite ice cream from Cold Stone. He said it tasted similar and liked it. My wife and I did not like it, it had a slight Angel Food cake mix taste to it.

Apple Pie: This flavor was our favorite of the group, which isn't much of a compliment based on how on the other flavors taste. This had a nice heavy cinnamon flavor with a slight apple and brown sugar flavor that made it taste just like a dutch apple pie. This one was tasty, but nothing I'd go out of my way to purchase.

Mint Mint Chocolate Chocolate Chip: This flavor was very minty at first then it gave way to a chocolate taste. The chocolate flavor isn't like a milk chocolate or a dark chocolate, it's that ice cream parlor flaked chocolate that seems kind of chewy. Does anyone else dislike the chewy chocolate ice cream stores use, or is it just me?

I've started to realize that I do not like the chocolate flavor that Jelly Belly uses in their jelly beans. I love chocolate, but something about the taste in these and others I've tried isn't working for me. It might be just me (and my wife and my son), so please try these out for yourself.

I would have to say this is the worst Jelly Belly mix I've ever tried. I normally love Jelly Bellies and with all of their mixes out there, it was inevitable at some point I'd find one that I didn't enjoy. I feel let down because this is a big tie-in with a major ice cream company and I had high hopes for it. We've only eaten at Cold Stone a few times, but I've liked all the ice cream mixes I've had there. I'm also wondering how they picked these signature ice creams as the ones they'd make jelly beans after. Why not use the Peanut Butter Cup, Banana Caramel, Cheesecake Fantasy or Strawberry Banana Rendezvous flavors instead? Those all look like amazing flavors and I can think of Jelly Belly beans that have some of those flavors already. Heck, I'd even go for a Coffee Lovers Only, I like the Jelly Belly coffee jelly bean and it would have been way better than the Chocolate Devotion pick.
